Solutions for Success: Reading Comprehension Part I, Grades k-5, English and Spanish

This workshop focuses on text structure and genre. You will learn to use Thinking Guides and strategies to help students comprehend, analyze, make inferences and draw conclusions. You will leave this workshop with an exciting approach to reading instruction that helps bridge test preparation by teaching reading comprehension within the curriculum. E-lessons include guiding dialogue for varied text structures that unpack instruction for tested reading skills. Participants will receive access to a sample selection from HiTech Test Prep software with animated lessons in Read for Understanding, Produce a Summary, and Answer Comprehension Questions. Classroom materials, guiding dialogue, and software are available in English and Spanish.

Solutions for Success: Reading Comprehension Part II, Grades k-5, English and Spanish
This workshop focuses on using children’s literature to align instruction with emphasis on text structure and genre. You will refine how to teach reading comprehension to help students comprehend, analyze, make inferences and draw conclusions. E-lessons are partnered with notable, award winning books. Participants will receive sample lessons and activities to identify main ideas and produce summaries. Classroom materials are available in English and Spanish. You will leave this workshop with lesson samples that bridge test selections to children’s literature for various genres.
